1. When did you first go on line?
Dec 26,1999
My sister received a webtv on christmas eve,after seeing how it worked I knew I wanted one so I bought mine the day after christmas.I had already seen the webtv info commercials before christmas and knew what it was about but didn`t really know if I wanted one till I saw it in action.
2. Did you start with MSNTV?
I started on Webtv with a Phillips new classic,about 6 months later it was fried by lightning so I bought a Sony new classic lbb.I then bought my Sony 250 a few months later because I realized that I was on webtv more then I was off and I was missing out on all of my favorite tv shows.
3. Do you now have a PC and MSNTV ?
No pc yet,I`m not actually sure if I`ld want a pc because of the viruses and the fact that you pay for software---right now I feel like I can do everything I want to on my lbb so why get a pc.
4. What is your passion on line?
In some ways everything online is my passion or atleast anything new that I`m learning.I really enjoy doing imaging work but I also enjoy making full screen sigs and sidebar sigs.I basically enjoy learning all things having to do with sigs,webpages and tools.
5. What led you into your passion....who was your mentor?
Silverwolf was/is my mentor.When I bought my webtv plus I started visiting the plus newsgroup and Silverwolf`s sigs blew me away.I knew I wanted to learn how to make sigs like his and he did a great job at teaching me.He`s been offline for a couple years now due to health issues but his sig work still inspires me to learn new things.
6. What got you started answering ng questions?
When I first came online I spent time lurking and asking ?`s in mainly the webtv.user ng.Some of my ?`s were answered by very helpful people but there were some people that made me feel really dumb.After I started lurking in the webtv.plus ng I saw how helpful Silverwolf was without ever being demeaning about it and I knew that with what little knowledge that I had I wanted to help out the same way he did.I believe that`s ones time on the internet should be enjoyable instead of frustrating because you can`t find an answer to something so I help out when I can.
7. How did you learn to make sigs/webpages?
I learned by asking ?`s and by actually learning what each tag within a script does.I also tend to be a person who prints out a lot of the posts that have useful info in them,some of the posts have info in them that I`m not interested in at the time but may be some time in the future.
8.What advice would give someone who would like to learn how to script?
Take the time to actually learn what each tag in the script does.It`s fun being able to put an instant sig in your post by cc&p but in the long run you need to know what`s doing what in your script.Also don`t be afraid to ask ?`s,it`s the only way to really learn.
9. What, in your opinion, is the hardest part of scripting?
Finding the time to sit down and learn new scripts or to find the time to write a script.
10. What new endeavors are you persuing?
Before my former server went down, I had started to learn perl/cgi,I`m trying to get back into that,I`m also learning php.Recently I got into extreme imaging and I`m really enjoying that now.
11. What's the funniest or most embarrassing incident that you remember about being on MSNTV ?
My most embarrassing moment happened the first day I was online,I was typing an email to my sister and I couldn`t figure out what keys to hold down in order to type the @,I called webtv and after the customer service rep quit laughing he told me to try holding the Shift key down and the 2 key.Well what can I say other then I failed typing class in high school. LOL! What`s really embarrassing is that before he asked me what my problem was he stated we were being recorded,I now have visions of customer service pulling out that old recording and playing it whenever they want a laugh
12. What are some of your favorite websites?
I can`t say that I really have a favorite website,MzVains was my favorite because it had so many links on it to such a large variety of subjects.
I do use an image tool center.... it`s a fast way to get to all of the imaging tools.
