Glass is used in many artforms. Not only is there painted glass, reverse painting, stained glass, but even music has many glass instruments. I collect glass and crystals so this topic is interesting to me as I hope you will be. The above photograph is one from my collection of glass works.

For this edition, I drew a butterfly and painted it to try and make a stained glass looking butterfly. The background will look black but it is a transparency (gif) so when you take to ImageMagick it will look like a white background there. Painting it is not difficult as I am sure you know, and below you will find the different graphics to help you make your own. I used only color names which was limiting. You'll have to decide which parts you wish to remain transparent so that the tile will show or which parts you want to be a corresponding solid color. Just be creative :-)

Here is one of my butterflies in a line drawing.

I took this drawing to ImageMagick and colored in some of the parts - leaving others to allow the background tiles to show through. Example

Using some of the stain glass looking tiles that I made, I put those in a table and the painted butterfly. There are many possibilites that can be done but this is my final result. Click
